Feb'10 Favorites and Recommendations

current favorites,
site news For a really, really long time now, I have been meaning to put something on my about page, but I've just been so lazy about it. Probably because I'm just not big on the idea of some sort of autobiography, so instead I decided to combine it with something else I've been meaning to do for a while now: current favorites and recommendations.
I figured once a month would be the best way to do it, and finally getting some content on the about page would be as easy as copying and pasting the blog entries. Yeah, I cut corners. So what? Hopefully, if I stick to it, I'll be picking a favorite album, video game, TV show, movie, book, and website each month to recommend. Just don't expect detailed reviews. Here's February's list.
ALBUM: Cozza Frenzy by Bassnectar
Not that long ago, I started listening to DnB a lot more, as I wrote about previously, and I think there may have been a little something to my theory. Recently, an old friend from back when I used to listen to DnB all the time told me about Bassnectar. I instantly fell in love, and since that night Cozza Frenzy is pretty much all I've listened to. If I do happen to listen to something else, it's usually the Bassnectar Pandora station. It's definitely got me oozing creative energy. And yes, creative energy oozes, in case you didn't know that. True story.
VIDEO GAME: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
I really didn't play much Xbox at all this last month, but almost every time I did, I was playing MW2. Even though I'm getting bored with it--Hello! Can we get a new map pack, please?!--it is still one of my favorites. If you play, go ahead and send a friend request on XBL to shescrafty. Just be sure to send me a message or leave a comment here saying who you are too because I rarely accept random requests from people I've never played with. Come to think of it, I don't accept a lot of the requests I get from people I've played with either. That's probably because they're all from fourteen year old kids who spent entire matches asking, "oh my God, are you a girl? Shescrafty, are you a girl? Hello?"
TV SHOW: Lost
Without diving into a long rambling about how much I love Lost, I have to say that I still have so much hope that everything will all tie together brilliantly. How they are going to wrap it up in under twenty episodes is beyond me, but I've been enjoying season six a lot just because it has gone back to the good old days of discussing every episode and all the theories with friends afterward. There are a few other shows I've been watching on a regular basis this last month, but really Lost is the only one I care about and the only one that I watch as soon as it airs rather than waiting to download it later.
MOVIE: Sunshine Cleaning
I don't really know what to say about this movie other than I liked it. I didn't really watch a lot of movies in February, and this is the only one worth recommending. That's not to say it's only worth recommending because I watched so few movies thus making it only good by comparison. It really is a good movie, but that's all I can think to say about it. Just watch it.
BOOK: Simple Abundance by Sarah Ban Breathnach
This book was given to me by a friend of my mom's back in December. Since then, it's really all I've read. For several months now, I've had my life turned completely upside down, and I am amazed at how well I've made it through. There's still a long journey ahead of me, but because I've remained positive and kept my head up through the worst of it, facing the unknown future and moving forward isn't so scary. I'm starting a new chapter in my life, and it's going to be a good one. I'd be a liar if I tried saying this book hadn't helped my overall wellbeing, and because I've enjoyed reading it daily, I've even purchased copies for two of my best girlfriends who have been there for me every step of the way. Now if only I could get around to mailing those off.
WEBSITE: Lamebook.com
I would have to say that of all the sites I keep up with on Google Reader, this has definitely been my favorite the last few weeks. It's given me so many WTF moments, and there's even been a time or two when I was literally laughing out loud and couldn't stop. I can't believe some of the stuff people post to Facebook, and this little gem is a perfect example.

Cool idea! I for one am always on the lookout for new things to keep me occupied and you and I seem to be on the same page most of the time with movies, games, etc.
I just checked out the Bassnectar link and although they particularly don't thrill me personally, I REALLY like Pandora, so that's a winner there - indirectly ;-)
Annnnd I guess one of these days I'll have to brave the realm of non-single-player in MW2, although the thought of a 12 year old kicking my ass at a game really puts a damper on my urge to expedite that one. Ha!
So - you know - keep 'em coming and I'll keep reading!
Do you still have MW2? If so, I'll pop your multiplayer cherry! Seriously, next time you're on we have to play together. Screw Borderlands for the time being, and if you really want, we can start off in a private match so I can show you the ropes. I get my ass kicked by little kids all the time, but I don't let it get to me.
And yeah, most drum and bass is an acquired taste. There are other types of music you'd have to start listening to in order to cross the bridge to the land of good jungle. :)
Yeah, I still have MW2, but it pisses me off most of the time, so I don't play it very often. I never was a huge fan of war type games. I'm much more into un-reality kind of stuff, which is probably why I love games like Fallout3 and Borderlands.
Fallout and Borderlands are very similar with the open world style where you can pretty much play however you want. I actually prefer that over the usual fixed plot line like in the CoD games. However, once you're done, you're done. Unless of course they release some DLC, but you have to pay for that. The online matchmaking is definitely what keeps me playing the CoD games so much, and I think you should try it. If you play with me, you'll at least get a kick out of the little kids in shock that they're playing with a girl, especially when they assume I'm younger than them and they hit on me. *barf*
