Oh, You Know, This and That
I’ve had a cold since Thursday or Friday, and I’m on my period. I also have a ton of shit to do this week. Normally under these circumstances, I would be in panic mode right now. However, I’m just going to let the cards fall where they may. There’s no sense in pushing myself too hard right now.
I stayed in on Friday night with a terrible sinus headache and fever, and I was supposed to do the Cooper River Bridge Run on Saturday morning, but I was too sick to go. Also, I found out in the middle of the night that a friend had passed away. We had just been hanging out the night before, so that really took me by surprise.
Had I known our goodbye on Thursday night would have been our last, I would have given him a much longer hug. He is definitely missed.
By Saturday evening, I was feeling somber but not as sick. Rather than going downtown, I got together with some girlfriends at a friend’s house for some wine, gossip, and a movie, and I definitely needed that.
Sunday morning, I went to brunch at Crave with friends (I think we had a group of twenty-one this time), and then several of us headed downtown to Fuel and played in the bocce ball tournament. After that, some of us went to eat at Taco Boy, and then I went home and passed the fuck out.
When I woke up a while later on Sunday evening, my cold symptoms seemed to be getting worse, and by yesterday morning, I was feeling like ass again. The congestion moved from my sinuses to my lungs, and now I’ve got a snotty nose and a wicked cough.
This happens every year in the Spring when the weather takes a turn from being really warm to really cold and then back to warm again. In less than twelve hours, I have already consumed an entire bottle of Robitussin, which, according to the dosage instructions, should have lasted me two days. I also have Vicks VapoRub smeared all over my nose and upper lip.
Tomorrow, the resting period ends.
Aside from a followup vet appointment for Artemis, I also have a bunch of errands to run. Then on Thursday, I’ll be doing a Stella & Dot trunk show at the HUG Chs Party for a Purpose to benefit Crisis Ministries. I’m excited and very thankful for the opportunity, but I committed to doing the show very late. There were several things I needed to order, and the shipment isn’t scheduled to arrive until the day of the show. For that reason, tomorrow’s errands include finding a cheap plan B just in case.
In a perfect world, I’ll be all better by Friday and ready to party my ass off for the weekend, and I can only hope that next week will be better.
