Because I’m in school Tuesday through Saturday, I’m almost always thrown off as to which day of the week it is. I could have sworn it was Wednesday, but I guess it’s Thursday. Nevertheless…

GPOYW - I was a brunette for the day. We had to wear some kind of wig or hairpiece at school, so I borrowed a wig from a friend. Even though I have no intentions of going dark any time in the foreseeable future, I do really want my hair that length, so I’m now considering extensions. For a long time, I’ve been saying I’m not going to cut my hair (aside from regular trims to keep it from looking ratty) until it’s past my boobs, but that’s at least another year away, and I’m not that patient.

Well, I am still too lazy to actually write the story about how I switched career paths, but because I finally just renewed my domain (one day before expiration), I feel I need to do what I can to start updating more often.

So, here’s a picture (featuring my friend Lauren) that shows what I do now, and it’s exactly what I started out doing ten years ago before I met the ex-husband. Isn’t it funny how some things in life come full circle?

Also, LotsofNothingess.com will be four years old tomorrow. The content has come and gone, and for the most part the site has lived up to the name well. If I had continued writing on a regular basis and kept it all on here, what a story it would be!

I haven’t posted anything in over three months, but because my domain name expires in a few days, I’d hate to renew it and let it go to waste like I almost always do. So, here we are again.

I’ve been working on this mandala piece since late December, and before finishing it, I decided it might be cool to do a time lapse video. Yup, that’s right. I actually finished another piece. Round of applause please?

Also, the song playing (Bassnectar’s remix of Ellie Goulding’s Lights) is one of my current favorites. I’m surprised I’m not sick of it yet for as much as I play it.

Not a whole lot has changed for me, but everything keeps getting better. I haven’t written a single thing about my new school, which I started in September, but it has taken over my life. More on that some other time.

This morning I got the urge to do some drawing, so I pulled out my oil pastels and got to work. Before I knew it, several hours had passed, and I had a nearly finished piece in front of me. Granted, it’s a tacky ocean sunset picture, but I honestly can’t remember the last time I started and finished a drawing that I had done for pleasure rather than for school.

There’s still a bit more I’d like to do, but for now, it’s close enough to being done for me to feel like I should pat myself on the back. I have so many unfinished pieces lying around that, for a while there, I was thinking ‘unfinished’ was just my style.

On August 26th, the day of Hurricane Irene, I took Kahlua for a walk on the beach to check out the waves and watch some friends surf in that madness. They were giddy like kids on Christmas, but having been completely knocked around the day before, I had no intentions of joining them in the water. After a year and nine months of separation, two and a half years of being lied to and cheated on, and a total of eight years of marriage, I am finally divorced today.

I’ve waited for this for so long, and it’s amazing how everything else in my life is coming together so beautifully at the same time. Two years ago, I was scared out of my mind not knowing what I was going to do or how I could go on. But today, I am a completely different person. The entire experience has changed me for the better so much, and I couldn’t be more grateful.

So thank you, ex-husband, for turning into a total douche bag piece of shit and losing your morals. Your selfish actions forced me to grow and mature as a person, and it’s too bad the same can’t be said for you. Sayonara!
