Weeks twelve and thirteen cover my trip to San Diego to visit Adam, my birthday, and the first few days of Helen’s visit from Wales. It all went by way too fast.
78/365 - Somehwere over the South-West
[June 10th] While flying to San Diego, I couldn’t believe how undeveloped such a large area of the South-West was. All I could think of was The Hills have Eyes.

Adam left yesterday, and it honestly feels like he was never here. Time flew by so quickly, and now I’m back to being alone and worrying about getting stuff done before an unknown deadline. It’s a horrible feeling not knowing when to do things because you have no idea when it all needs to be completed, and that has resulted in more stress than I can handle. This week, though, I am determined to shake that.
For quite some time now, whenever I’ve spent more than a few hours at a time drawing or coding or playing video games, I have felt guilty. Anything leisurely that I do has made me feel like crap because any day that ends without me having done something productive in relation to the move seems like a day wasted. I get down on myself for putting things off, but Adam basically told me to just quit caring. He said I should go back to doing whatever I feel like doing, whenever I feel like doing it, and then everything will sort itself out. Personally, I find that far easier said than done, but I’m going to give it a shot. I’m letting go.

Just as I was about to throw my hands up in the air and surrender to the universe, I guess it double checked its records and realized I’ve racked up a ridiculous amount of good karma over the last year that I have yet to cash in on. Although the fire on the George Washington could never be considered a good thing, it has turned out to be beneficial for me. The ship’s original three or four days in San Diego have now unofficially turned into one or two months. They’ve been there for almost a week, but the Navy still has yet to give any official word as to what their plans are. The rumors are definitely swirling though. Some people say they will be in San Diego for at least two months and then go straight to Japan. Others say they will be in San Diego for a while and then go up to Bremerton, Washington to dry dock and fix the rest of the damage, and a few have said they are going to fix everything and postpone all their ports till they’re done. All I know is that I’m flying out to San Diego to see my doting husband in a little over a week.

Let me preface this with a whole lot of expletives. SHIT DAMN FUCK COCK-SUCKING SON OF A FUCKING CUNT BITCH!!!!!@#$%^&
A fire broke out aboard the carrier George Washington on Thursday morning as it transited off the west coast of South America, according to a Navy spokesman. One sailor received first-degree burns and 23 others were treated for heat stress.
Yes, that’s right, a fucking fire. Everyone is safe, but I am pissed off because communications are now down. Maggie called me this morning to let me know, and then I got a call from Adam. How was he able to call me? The emergency line, I guess. It was good to hear his voice for the first time in what seems like forever, but unfortunately it was straight to business. He was calling to give me a list of numbers to call to let some wives and parents know that communications are down. Then he said it could be for weeks.
