I will admit that during these two weeks, I really started slacking off. Not much effort was put into some of the photos, and often times I’d find myself at the end of the day scrambling for something to take a picture of. Other days, I’d maybe take a picture with no intent to use it for Project 365, but then at the end of the day, having not taken any other pictures, I’d end up having to use that picture by default. Unfortunately, the slacking off only got worse, which is very apparent at the beginning of week sixteen.
These fourteen pictures are from the last two weeks Helen was visiting from Wales. During that time, we drove down to my parents’ house in South Carolina because my brother was home from Iraq on R&R and my sister-in-law and nephew had flown in from Texas. It was definitely a packed house. Looking back on these two weeks has really reminded me of what a wonderful time I had, and I am so thankful that Helen and I could finally meet and spend so much time together. She’s a true friend, and I really miss her.

Weeks twelve and thirteen cover my trip to San Diego to visit Adam, my birthday, and the first few days of Helen’s visit from Wales. It all went by way too fast.
78/365 - Somehwere over the South-West
[June 10th] While flying to San Diego, I couldn’t believe how undeveloped such a large area of the South-West was. All I could think of was The Hills have Eyes.

Just as I was about to throw my hands up in the air and surrender to the universe, I guess it double checked its records and realized I’ve racked up a ridiculous amount of good karma over the last year that I have yet to cash in on. Although the fire on the George Washington could never be considered a good thing, it has turned out to be beneficial for me. The ship’s original three or four days in San Diego have now unofficially turned into one or two months. They’ve been there for almost a week, but the Navy still has yet to give any official word as to what their plans are. The rumors are definitely swirling though. Some people say they will be in San Diego for at least two months and then go straight to Japan. Others say they will be in San Diego for a while and then go up to Bremerton, Washington to dry dock and fix the rest of the damage, and a few have said they are going to fix everything and postpone all their ports till they’re done. All I know is that I’m flying out to San Diego to see my doting husband in a little over a week.
