Well, I am still too lazy to actually write the story about how I switched career paths, but because I finally just renewed my domain (one day before expiration), I feel I need to do what I can to start updating more often.
So, here’s a picture (featuring my friend Lauren) that shows what I do now, and it’s exactly what I started out doing ten years ago before I met the ex-husband. Isn’t it funny how some things in life come full circle?
Also, LotsofNothingess.com will be four years old tomorrow. The content has come and gone, and for the most part the site has lived up to the name well. If I had continued writing on a regular basis and kept it all on here, what a story it would be!
Oh. What. A. Story.

On August 26th, the day of Hurricane Irene, I took Kahlua for a walk on the beach to check out the waves and watch some friends surf in that madness. They were giddy like kids on Christmas, but having been completely knocked around the day before, I had no intentions of joining them in the water. That night turned out to be a memorable one for me, so I especially love this photo. What has developed since then has been a refreshing break from the usual.

GPOYW - Of all the photos taken on Friday night, this is my favorite. Also, of all the photos taken Friday night, this is one of the only ones that doesn’t make me ask, “what the fuck is going on there!?” Friday night was interesting.

GPOYW - This was taken on Sunday, I believe, but I could be wrong. The whole long 4th of July weekend was honestly a big drunken blur. And, while Captain Dodd looks pretty lucky to be out on the boat with four of his pirate hookers, there were actually four other guys with us too.

GPOYW - That would be me in the middle of the dance floor at Suede on Saturday. I didn’t want to go out that night, but because a friend was in town for the weekend, I said I’d go out for one drink.
Well, one drink turned into seven. Then I ended up at Huddle House, and then I was up until almost 5AM pigging out on my leftover birthday cake, watching random Youtube videos and getting even more intoxicated with my neighbor.
Despite waking up about four hours later to take my neighbor to get his keys from our friend’s house, and spending most of the day napping before going out for dinner and drinks with friends, I somehow miraculously felt fine Monday morning. Rarely ever do I catch up on sleep that fast. I’m grateful, though, because I’ve been getting shit done all week like a bawse.

Yesterday, my friend Brandy brought some balloons to my birthday dinner for me. The others have lost their float, but this one is still going strong.
[Edit Jul15.2011: Three weeks later, and it’s still floating like a champ.]

The Beginning of the End

I’ve been slacking with the writing lately. I’ve also been slacking with posting random videos, pictures and articles. I’ve even been slacking when it comes to taking pictures. I guess my only excuse is that everything feels very chaotic right now. In a few months, my life will be very different, and while I welcome all the changes, that doesn’t make the process any less stressful.

In preparation for everything coming my way, I’ve been doing my best to take better care of myself both physically and mentally: eating better, quit smoking, walking a few miles every day or two, even cut certain “toxic” people out of my life. I don’t want other people’s negativity bringing me down, and because stress tends to manifest itself physically for me, I need to be prepared.

I’ve been trying to fill my time with activities that benefit me, so that means a lot less time spent on the computer searching for the end of the Internet, which leaves me with a lot less to share. And, because it’s hard for me to write about what’s going on in my life without giving way more details than needed, I tend to not write at all as opposed to being vague.

I’ve been caught in limbo between my old life and my new one for far too long, and I’m more ready to finally start over. Bring it!

Taken a week ago on Saturday. Did you know it costs nine dollars to take a rickshaw from upper King Street to Market and Cumberland? We didn’t feel like walking to meet up with someone, nor did I want to move my car from its awesome parking space, and the friends we were with told us it shouldn’t cost more than four or five for a rickshaw. Nope, nine. When the night was over, we asked another rickshaw guy how much it would cost to get back to my car, and he said twelve dollars. Obviously we walked. I’m not that rich to be that lazy.

Mother Nature is a Biotch

  • I love it whenever a friend and I are on similar cycles because, as everyone knows, misery loves company. I had plans to go out with one of my girlfriends tonight, but as the evening approached, I started feeling more and more lethargic. Initially I thought it was just from the stormy weather all day, but then I started getting crampy. Shortly after that, I got a text from her saying she didn't think she wanted to go out because her PMS was kicking in. I told her I was on the same page, and then our conversation continued as follows.
  • Me: Hope you feel better soon!
  • Her: You too. What fun we girls have.
  • Me: We take "raging" to a whole new level.
  • Her: We're probably being punished for not walking tonight.
  • Me: Mother Nature punishing us for not doing something that we were prevented from doing...by Mother Nature. So cruel!!!
  • Her: What a biotch.

Oh, You Know, This and That

I’ve had a cold since Thursday or Friday, and I’m on my period. I also have a ton of shit to do this week. Normally under these circumstances, I would be in panic mode right now. However, I’m just going to let the cards fall where they may. There’s no sense in pushing myself too hard right now.

I stayed in on Friday night with a terrible sinus headache and fever, and I was supposed to do the Cooper River Bridge Run on Saturday morning, but I was too sick to go. Also, I found out in the middle of the night that a friend had passed away. We had just been hanging out the night before, so that really took me by surprise.

Had I known our goodbye on Thursday night would have been our last, I would have given him a much longer hug. He is definitely missed.
