On August 26th, the day of Hurricane Irene, I took Kahlua for a walk on the beach to check out the waves and watch some friends surf in that madness. They were giddy like kids on Christmas, but having been completely knocked around the day before, I had no intentions of joining them in the water. That night turned out to be a memorable one for me, so I especially love this photo. What has developed since then has been a refreshing break from the usual.
So much has changed; I don’t even know where to begin. So, here’s a picture of the beach at sunrise on Wednesday.
If I could spend every day at the beach, I would be the happiest girl in the world. I would gladly trade all my possessions to live in a run down shack on one of the islands just so I could wake up every morning and hear the ocean. I want the simple beach life.
Yesterday, before the storm rolled in, Charleston was gorgeous. I took Kahlua for a walk on the beach with a friend and her dog, and right when we turned around for the second half of the walk, we started seeing lightening. As the storm clouds started to roll in and hide the sun, it was really pretty. We made it back to her car just in time, and then the insane downpour started. Lightening was striking everywhere, and apparently there was hail. I love a nice afternoon thunderstorm.
Today, though, it has been dreary and rainy since I woke up. There were errands I wanted to run, and I was supposed to go out downtown tonight, but instead I decided I’d rather just stay in all day and night. Tomorrow should be beautiful, so I’d like to go to the beach again.
Oh look, another beach picture from three or four weeks ago on Isle of Palms. I need a beach day so bad right now. Gonna have to make the time soon.
Another photo taken at the beach the week before last.
I went walking on the beach sometime last week while the weather was still really nice, and I took a lot of pictures. One of these days I’m going to have to walk around photograph downtown Charleston too. I could probably spend several hours, easily.
Another beach picture taken back in October. The weather lately has been so cold and rainy, but I’ve decided that as soon as we have a warm day or two again, I’m going to at least take the dogs for a walk on the beach. I’ve been away from the water for too long.
Even though this was taken in October, it’s still one of those photos that makes me miss the summer like crazy.
