Reefer Madness: Alive And Well In The Federal Government!
Well, it looks like the Ending Federal Marijuana Prohibition Act of 2011 has hit it’s first snag.
Rep. Smith, the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, responded to press inquiries yesterday about the new federal legalization bill, that will be referred to his committee, saying he had no intention of considering the bill, or even giving it a public hearing.
Members Of Congress Introduce First Federal Measure Since 1937 To Legalize The Adult Use Of Marijuana
Said Rep. Frank, “Criminally prosecuting adults for making the choice to smoke marijuana is a waste of law enforcement resources and an intrusion on personal freedom. I do not advocate urging people to smoke marijuana, neither do I urge them to drink alcoholic beverages or smoke tobacco, but in none of these cases do I think prohibition enforced by criminal sanctions is good public policy.”
I started watching this video last night, not realizing it was a fifty minute documentary. But then I figured I didn’t have anything better to do, so I watched it. Now, I suggest everyone watches it.
I’ve seen plenty of documentaries about marijuana prohibition before, but there’s something about this one I particularly enjoyed. I dunno. Maybe it’s all the English accents. It’s mostly about UK law, but they do focus on the United States a bit too, and our laws really aren’t all that different.
So yeah. Watch.
